This painting tells the story of a woman who refused to let her dream disappear. As a young girl, Dative was inspired by a tailor she passed each day on her way to school. Though family responsibilities interrupted her chance to study tailoring at seventeen, she continued to carry that dream in her heart.
I was inspired by Dative’s quiet determination and long journey toward her dream. I was moved by how a childhood fascination became a lifelong purpose. Through this work, I wanted to honor patience, commitment, and the beauty of believing in your vision even when life forces you to pause.

Story Behind
Dative is a tailor from Nyanza whose love for sewing began in childhood, watching a local tailor along her path to school. Although life delayed her dream, she never let it go.
Today, after 15 years of work and as a mother of three, she is known in her community for beautifully sewn dresses. She dreams of opening her own atelier and designing elegant wedding gowns.
