Dative musanabera
Dative is a tailor whose love for sewing began in childhood. She grew up in a rural area in Nyanza, nearButare, where there was a tailor working at the local center along the path she used to take to school. Every day, she would slow down just to watch him work, fascinated by the way he transformed fabric into clothing.
At the age of seventeen, a family member offered her the opportunity to go and learn tailoring. However, life took a different direction. Her studies were interrupted, and instead, she was given responsibilities at home to care for children in the family. The dream of becoming a tailor had to wait.
Later, she returned home still holding onto that dream. After some time, her older sibling bought her a sewing machine. That moment marked the true beginning of her journey. She started practicing, meeting other tailors, learning from them, and gradually building her skills.
Today, Dative has been working as a tailor for 15 years and is a mother of three children. Over time, she developed a special love for sewing dresses, and many people in her neighborhood know her for this. She finds great joy when someone brings her a design idea and she is able to recreate it beautifully, just as they imagined.
Her dream is to one day design wedding dresses, open her own atelier, employ at least two people, and work with high-quality fabrics to create elegant gowns for brides.
Through patience, dedication, and hope, Dative continues to build her craft one stitch at a time.
