Murekatete
I saw Murekatete walking along the street with an agataro full of fruits balanced on her head,She is pregnant and also a mother of three children at home. Every day, she walks around Ziniya Market in Kicukiro District selling fruits, trying to earn enough to support her family. She told me she has been doing this work for two years. When I saw her, I was deeply inspired by her strength. Her body is tired But she keeps moving for her children. She works in a condition where many would rest, yet she chooses courage. Her love gives her power to continue. The white-blue sky background in this painting represents her hope hope for a better life, safer days, and a future where her children can grow with opportunities. The light behind her reminds us that even through hardship, she is carrying new life and new dreams. This artwork honors mothers like her women whose struggle is often unseen, but whose resilience keeps families alive and communities standing. Her story matters. Her strength deserves to be seen.
