Inshuti Nyanshuti – Series
Inshuti Nyanshuti is a series of paintings inspired by the Abazunguzayi mothers who sell on the streets, walking from place to place with their goods in agataro and basins.
In this life of movement and daily selling, they become more than women doing the same work. They become true friends.
They walk together every day. They share conversations, laughter, and worries about their children and homes. When one finds a client and her friend has better items, she calls the customer to her. There is no jealousy only understanding.
They go together to buy stock. If one arrives earlier and finds good merchandise, she can buy for her friend before it runs out. They protect each other’s opportunities because they know they are building their families at the same time.
For these mothers, friendship removes loneliness. It brings comfort during long hours under the sun. It makes the journey lighter.
This series honors Abazunguzayi not only for their hard work, but for their unity.
