Abazunguzayi "Series"

Abazunguzayi "Series"

In Rwanda, many women known as abazunguzayi walk long distances through villages and towns, selling fruits, vegetables, and small goods to support their families. I meet them everywhere moving with quiet strength, dignity, and hope. Their daily struggle to provide for their children inspired me deeply.

Through this series, I aim to honor their resilience and bring visibility to their stories. These women carry not only their baskets, but also the weight of responsibility, dreams, and the future of their families. Their courage deserves to be seen and remembered.

This work is also connected to my mission: using art as a way to give back. A portion of the proceeds from these paintings helps support street-selling mothers in finding proper market stalls, giving them stability, safety, and a chance to build a more secure future for their children.

By painting them, I am not only telling their story, I am standing with them.
